Happy First Day of Winter everyone! I cannot believe we are approaching the holidays and new year already. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like the older I get the faster time goes by. I hope everyone is staying warm during the holiday season! It actually has felt more like winter the past few weeks here in North Carolina. We got over a foot of snow two weeks ago. Almost unheard of, especially early in December. I don’t know about you but I love staying cozy in the fall and winter. I think I’ve worn a sweater almost everyday since the temperatures dropped below 50 haha. I love the versatility of a sweater or cardigan and playing with layers. You can get really creative with your outfit, another reason why I love fall and winter! Loft has so many versatile pieces and I put together 2 different looks using the same sweater for you to stay cute and cozy in!

I love me a good cowl neck sweater and this one is OH SO GOOD. I love that it’s more snug, a little unusual for me as I prefer oversized sweaters. I honestly fell in love with the boucle texture. I’ve been wanting to add more texture especially with neutral tones to my closet. I have major “Joanna Gaines” feels in this look and I am not mad about it since I am a country girl at heart. Catch my Instagram stories for the accent.

Cowl Neck sweater for women

I played with more textures for this look by mixing Loft’s wool pocket shift skirt and the same sweater. Again, I love neutrals. They’re what I feel most comfortable in and a way I’ve upped the bland look of them is adding pieces with that texture. This look can easily be worn to work, date night or to your family holiday gathering.

Honestly, one of my favorite things about Loft is the versatility of their clothing. I know I mentioned this earlier and you’re going to hear me say it again. When it comes to me investing in clothes, I love things that I can get the most out of. Luckily, my office just switched to a “Dress for Your Day” dress code which allows us to wear more casual clothes. But when I did have to dress business casual for work, Loft was my go-to for pieces that I could not only wear to the office but also wear everyday. It’s still one of my go-to stores when I’m looking to add new pieces to my closet! Plus the staff is always so helpful and friendly which makes the shopping experience even better for me. (Maybe not my wallet haha) I hope ya’ll enjoyed this post and I want to wish you all a Happy Holiday season!

XOXO,
Thuy

The Perfect Look for Any Occasion-Faux Leather

versatile look for any occasion

First post of 2018! I know, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on my blog. Between the holidays, being extremely busy and hitting a road block. I think I will go into more detail in another post… just because I think this is something that should be out there for others to read and possibly find relatable. I do apologize for being absent on Thuy’s Avenue but I’m back! I collaborated with an amazing local photographer for this post. You can check out her page and see for yourself. We met through blogging and I have never had an actual photoshoot out in the public. I was so nervous but she made it so fun and easy. If you’re a blogger in the Greensboro area, please check her out!

easy outfit for someone on the go easy outfit for someone on the go easy outfit for someone on the go

Today’s post is ONE look, that’s it. One look for multiple situations. Whether you are going to brunch, shopping, meeting a friend for coffee (common theme in all the pictures LOL) or going to grab a few drinks, this look is easy and will make you feel chic in all ways. Many of us are working 40+ hours a week (gotta pay them student loans off, nah’msayin??) and are usually always on the go! An outfit that’s versatile so that you can go from one place to another is always a plus.

Some days you don’t have time to run home, try to throw something together in a few minutes and head out the door. When I get ready, it usually takes me an hour. I will try an outfit on, hate it and change again. That’s why every night I plan my outfit for work the next morning because I know I will take an extra 20 minutes just figuring out what to wear. So I put together an outfit that I think is perfect for any setting!

easy outfit for someone on the go

Let’s just start with a basic faux leather jacket. I feel like most people have one of these in their closet. I’ve had mine for 5 years! I think leather jackets are so easy to style and are extremely versatile! I paired my jacket with a mock neck sweater. This one was on sale at Loft for $16 last year. I love the look of the high neck under the jacket. It just looks very chic to me. My favorite touch to any outfit is a pair of high waist jeans. I get all of mine from H&M just because I love the fit. They are very long on me (hence, why I have to roll mine up) but I’m also 5’0!

Faux Suede Ankle Boots

I wanted a touch of color in this look so I added my favorite pair of ankle boots. The faux suede, chunky heel ankle boots. I bought these from Zulily at the beginning of the season for under $20. I’ll link a bunch of similar options for around the same price! I am totally obsessed with the wine red this season. I pretty much want everything in this color. I think the neutrals with the touch of red is perfect. It’s not too much but it’s enough to make your look pop.
