Rugged Maniac -The Mud Run TO DO!

Happy Saturday guys! We made it to the weekend! Today, I am talking about mud runs! Have any of you heard of the Rugged Maniac? It’s similar to the Tough Mudder and the Spartan Race but to me, it’s more fun and less intense.

It’s been a week since the Rugged Maniac in Julian, North Carolina. This is the second mud run I have participated in. Last year, I ran in the Spartan Sprint, a much more intense and a longer run. I did train more for the Spartan because the obstacles are more challenging and the Sprint can be up to 5 miles. The Rugged Maniac is a 3-mile run and has less intense obstacles (more inflatable) which in my opinion are more fun! I didn’t train for this one as I did the Spartan.

If you have debated a mud run, I recommend starting with the Rugged Maniac. It was more about community and simply having fun. I didn’t feel as intimidated running in this race versus when I ran the Spartan. I am by no means a lover of running, but this one was just so much fun! You feel so awesome after and they usually hook you up with a free beer at the end. I have no qualms with that.

Have any of you ever run an obstacle course race? I will probably do the Rugged Maniac again next year just because it was SO FUN and I was with a great group!  Gather yourself a team of awesome friends and sign up for one near you! Here are some funny pictures from my run.
