Savannah Recap – A Gal’s Trip

Hello friends! I recently went to Savannah, Georgia for a girls trip. A little back story and the meaning behind the trip: My 3 best friends from high school, whom I am still very close with, decided that each year instead of buying each other Christmas presents we were going to go on an annual girls trip. It was also getting really difficult to buy gifts and we felt like we had DIY-ed every gift out there lol. I think this is honestly a great idea for a group of close friends especially the older you get. Last year we chose Asheville, North Carolina. This year was Savannah.

Any who, we rented an Airbnb right in downtown Savannah for our stay which was 3 nights for about $150 per person. It was a fantastic location within walking distance of everything! Not to mention, so freaking adorable. Sadly, it was bigger than my two bedroom apartment back home lol. I just loved how bright and spacious it was. We honestly weren’t in the Airbnb for anything else but sleeping and getting ready. Although it was cute enough to get cozy in.

The city of Savannah itself had a very light and fun atmosphere. The antebellum architecture of the buildings, homes and streets spoke the history. Cobblestone roads, parks, oak trees and Spanish moss are now what I picture when I think of Savannah. Oh and the city allows open container downtown, I mean there is a vicinity that you can have them of course but still pretty freaking awesome.

We drove down Friday morning, it’s only a 5 hour drive from where I live. Our check-in was 3pm so when we arrived we had time to spare. Our first stop was Debi’s Restaurant, which if you have ever seen Forrest Gump, is where Jenny worked. YA’LL, their chicken and waffles are THE BOMB. Literally the perfect chicken tenders, my mouth is watering just thinking about it again. Okay so we check-in and got ready. We wanted to see what the downtown night life was all about. We dined at a seafood bar for a quick bite and to start with our first couple of drinks. I’m not going to lie, I felt SO weird walking around with a drink in my hand. I was waiting for the police to just stop and tell me I was breaking the law lol. Friday night, we signed up for a haunted pub tour, self explained, but pretty cool. After stopping by 5 different bars, us gals were pretty “LIT.” I’m telling you, when you can bar hop and take your drink to go, it’s a different ball game.

The weather was not up to par this day. It was gross most of the time. We did walk and get brunch at Huey’s On the River (call ahead guys if you can). Our wait was about an hour and 30 minutes. It went by pretty fast after walking around and exploring. This was our shopping day since the weather wasn’t the best. I took this opportunity to stop by Dress Up, which is a large boutique in the south east but we don’t have one in North Carolina. They’re prices are pretty affordable and their pieces are OH SO CUTE. Probably spent more than I should have lol. Dinner was

Our last day and night in Savannah so we wanted to make it count. Sunday brunch was at Vic’s on the River. They had an all you can eat breakfast buffet and I don’t know about ya’ll but breakfast food is my favorite. After brunch we went to grab some margarita’s at Liz’s. Awesome deal of $3 a marg, sadly, I am highly allergic to tequila. I actually broke out in a rash on my face and around my mouth. Didn’t stop me though, I just switched to beer lol. I think that River street is probably one of my favorite locations because well it’s by the water and there are A LOT of bars. Our last night, we signed up for a haunted tour of Historic Savannah. This wasn’t a pub tour, it was more family friendly. It was probably one of my favorite things we did because I love history and when you combine haunted stories with it, I’m sold.

All in all, I loved Savannah. If you have never been, I highly recommend making a trip! The history of the city itself is fascinating. I am ready to plan another trip! This time, I plan to pack appropriate walking shoes and I recommend you do the same. Other tips I would advise are 1.) Make reservations for tours 2.) Call ahead for dining especially if you want to try the popular places 3.) If you go in the month of April, pack a jacket and a pair of pants because it was quite chilly some nights. Let me know in the comments if you have ever been and what your favorite thing to do was!
